Satire – An Appetite for Cynicism

It’s Halloween, and the monsters have something to tell us.

As darkness wraps around us on the evening of the 31st, a creature rises from the shadows; embodying the cynicism of capitalism and the leaders obsessed with profit and power, ready to drive others to burnout, to war, to racism. Fed by the very destruction they unleash upon the world.

The legion of the damned keeps watch.

A serpent’s tongue, uncoiled, to better speak ill of others.

Lips in chains, held tight by the leash of infernal lobbies that dictate their speech.

Long pointed ears, hungry for rumor and quick to twitch at the faintest gossip.

A straw plunged into the brain, feeding the court of hybrid demons with fresh ideas, thirsty for the imagination of others.

The symbol of the inverted dollar as a corrupted third eye, guiding every gesture through greed and avarice.

Hidden somewhere within this tortured face, the soul of this once-human, corrupted monster struggles to escape from hell.

In the end, the only true winner? The little worm, an insatiable scavenger, feasting endlessly on the decay of the corrupt.

A wink to death itself: no matter our social status, our wealth, or our privilege, we all end up beneath the earth, devoured by worms.

On this Halloween night, let us remember: each of us carries a curse within.

Willingly or not, we have all been the ghost in someone else’s story, guided by the shadow of ego, the spell of competition, or the incantation of pride.

Trick or treat… and good candy hunting tonight. 🎃 🧟
