I would have given everything not to lose her.

« Real Love is forever » – The Crow (1994)

That film pierced my soul when I was a teenager.
The cast, the aesthetic, the blazing soundtrack… and later, the discovery of the comic book.
Everything in it resonated like an echo of my own universe, or maybe it was the other way around.

At that time, I was living a love story of absolute intensity.
Not just a passion.
A vertigo. A communion.

And I drew endlessly.
At night, instead of doing homework.
In class, eyes lost, drowned in inspiration.
Always somewhere else, in poetry, in romance, in nostalgia, in chaos.
In black and white.

And I thought about her. All the time.

Walkman glued to my ears, the movie's songs on repeat,
I’d walk along the forest path to meet her up there, on that hill.

Did I project our story into Eric and Shelly’s?
Maybe.

But what I do know
Is that between The Crow and what I was living,
Something was revealed to me.
A certainty, or a stubborn hope:
That Love, real Love, transcends time,
And defies Death itself.

Dark out, Love In
